The virus is "disable", which can't function the way it did. Researchers are using the mechanism that the virus uses to take control of the human body to re-program the T-cells.Peter Houlihanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00961900865379520219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008122866340502585.post-12643765427954303162016-04-09T14:16:51.093-07:002016-04-09T14:16:51.093-07:00Exactly, instead of fighting back with men made cr...Exactly, instead of fighting back with men made creations which comes with package of side effects, they're using something that nature created to fight against cancer. This brings less side effects to the table.

DavidAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008122866340502585.post-28548634277144282662016-04-04T19:16:51.941-07:002016-04-04T19:16:51.941-07:00This is such a cool discovery! I am curious if there is a possibility of the person receiving the treatment to get HIV or any negative side effects of the disease. That could be a huge deterrent of this treatment and could cause more damage than help in the long run.

Ashley Geary (1)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008122866340502585.post-27503059281747796432016-04-03T14:15:22.106-07:002016-04-03T14:15:22.106-07:00I think this is an amazing discovery! If they use this method are we risking patients catching HIV?

Caitlyn Cordaro (1)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008122866340502585.post-41237648404279366182016-03-30T22:05:35.212-07:002016-03-30T22:05:35.212-07:00This is another great example of biologists re-pur...This is another great example of biologists re-purposing something found in nature to create groundbreaking tools in the lab. I believe the retroviral mechanism of the HIV virus (and many other viruses) could be harnessed by scientists in order to alter germ-line DNA. This kind of medical technology could be used to treat many illnesses, including things like cancer and cystic fibrosis.

Bradley Sarasin (Group 3)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
