The article The so-called ‘Age of Dinosaurs’ flirts with the idea that dinosaurs could not have lived more than 6,000 years ago. It gives us the “facts” on the interpretation of the supposed “Dinosaur Age,” meeting a common ground between religion and science. The author tells us that dinosaurs and other creatures all died at the same time, somewhere about 4,500 years ago. He ignores the descent of mammals, suggesting that mammals and dinosaurs both coexisted although we know this not to be true. In an interview for the magazine Creation, Dr. Carl Werner exclaimed that over 432 species of mammals have been discovered side-by-side with dinosaurs, slandering the name ‘The Age of the Dinosaurs,’ telling us mammals were just as important as dinosaurs in this period; in fact, even hypothesizing that mammals helped drive dinosaurs to extinction.
The author answers our confusion, by “confirming” that the mass extinction that indeed lead to the extinction of most dinosaurs was the great Flood described in the biblical story in Genesis 6:8 of Noah’s ark. In the story, before a 40 day flood two kinds (male or female) of each animal were chosen to board Noah’s ark to avoid death by the flood. The author suggests that some extreme conditions of the earth after the flood may have killed off many of the reptiles (dinosaurs), eventually until they all died off. He tells us that the last of the dinosaurs have only completely died off recently. Although providing no real evidence, the author claims that, “There is no ‘huge mystery’ about the existence of dinosaurs… God made them, along with the rest of His creation, around 6,000 years ago.” Dinosaurs lived alongside other animals then gradually died out after the flood, as other species have. Even though sediments and and ice core carbon dating, give factual evidence of creation much further back then 6,000 years ago, the article completely ignores our technological advancements we have made that prove the Earth’s existence millions and millions of years ago.

Reading articles like this can be really frustrating, as the spread of incorrect information can be detrimental to advancements in science. I often wonder what causes people to spread such information, if they actually believe it or if they have ulterior motives. What do you think the motives behind this article were?

Very frustrating indeed. I believe the motive was to link concepts of religion and science in a manner that doesn't disprove either completely, which clearly didn't work because both topics are so contradicting. Oh well.

I agree with Alexandra reading this article was overtly frustrating. The falsified information and the intertwining of science and a specific religious excerpt being used as supportive data is almost embarrassing since they've ignored all the other factual data that has been published. Also if they're suggesting the times of dinosaurs intertwined with the time of Noah's arc that would suggest that people too coexisted with dinosaurs! It's also interesting that they provide quotes from Dr. Carl Werner. Do you know about his legitimacy? IE is he a credited doctor and reliable source?

It seems like a lot of fake news originates from magazines or outlets where the authors can almost write anything they want because the audience who views it isn't going to question the accuracy. Unfortunately, those who spread fake news often visit sources full of more fake news. Gathering scientific evidence from a creation magazine doesn't seem like the smartest idea.

Last year I personally talked to some one who had a very similar belief system, that during creation everything was created including the dinosaurs. He went on for thirty minutes about how the fossil record is missing gaps, and evolution doesn't exist and how everything is how it was. It was eye opening that someone could be so ignorant to fact and science, its as if they take something with an actual basis in science and logic and try to falsify it and support their own ideas with a book written thousands of years ago and act as if it is the only source that matters.

This was very interesting to read about- I had no idea this was a theory floating around. It is so strange how people can hold beliefs that directly contradict facts. It is unfortunate that with all the advancements in science and history that we have made can be harmed by people who are spreading misinformation like this. There are probably many people who just believe this information without looking into it more.

I hope the author could kindly spend some time in explaining how different layers of stratum formed. And why we can find fossils of different species in different layers. And he also did not, and cannot, provide some real and useful evidences that support his opinion. Furthermore, his theory is poor in detail. He did not explain why dinosaurs died, but other animals did not. What mechanism, or what condition, killed all the dinosaurs, but let mammals survive. And why we cannot find any records of dinosaurs from the ancient civilizations that arised thousands years ago(China, India, Mesopotamia, Egypt, etc)?

After reading this, I can only wonder what this author's educational background includes. Considering he has earned his doctorate, it is clear that he has had a formal education. I would be curious to see what sources the author uses as a basis for his argument. It is concerning that people deem articles such as these to be accurate, although they contain no evidence or scientific reasoning.

I agree. Clearly the legitimacy of his education is questionable. Anyone that doesn't know any better could believe something like this just because he has the title of a doctor.
